Barleycorn Engineering was born out of a love of old motorcycles and a respect for the  craftsmanship which went into their construction. The performance and handling of machines as much as sixty years old or more is  testament to the skills and know-how of the men who made them, men with first  hand experience of riding the bikes they built, like George Brough and the Goodman brothers (of Velocette) who were great riders as well as manufacturers.

They had to work within the constraints of fairly primitive engineering equipment and with materials well short of today's specifications. They were also producing  bikes in far smaller numbers than today’s giants and in a very competitive  market with as many as 100 other marques. To survive, they had to build  distinctive machines that were durable, well designed, and innovative. What they  created so many years ago has become a passion for people like myself,  disenchanted with computer-designed, machine made, and generally, if not universally, characterless modern motorcycles.

Barleycorn Engineering is a small company dedicated not just to the preservation of old bikes, but to the enjoyment of them too.
